Blommaert NV specializes in aluminum structures including hatches for covering ship holds, mobile roofs for land applications, and customization for industry
We developed a steel lifting frame that would allow them to safely transport a set of 8 aluminum marine hatches measuring 14 x 7m. The frame had to be reusable, handle a total weight of 34 tons and, of course, also have CE certification.
The frame was designed with Solidworks, then subjected to a virtual strength calculation. Once the model was optimized, the frames were produced. The frames were then delivered to site and assembled under the direction of our team and subjected to a strength test during inspection.
The frames have since been commissioned by our client and have already traveled to the other side of the ocean!
